For many, sharing intimate details of domestic violence survival along with the trials and tribulations on their road to recovery can be very therapeutic; especially when you get to see how much your story and words can connect and support another. Our young girls, some even as young as 9 are verbally and physically abused by their boyfriends. The abuse survivors I’ve met and talked with have shared the most painful moments of their lives in hopes of preventing another person from walking a moment in a life like theirs. The last-straw.com has become a safe place to share stories and support each other. You were isolated during the abuse; don’t isolate yourself during your recovery.
I was contacted almost a year ago by Diva Communications in regards to a documentary on domestic violence and religion that will air on ABC affiliated stations in January 2011. Time to update things, the documentary called “I Believe You,” it is now ready to air, click on the following link for show times in your area http://www.divacommunications.com/programs/i-believe-you/
We talk about working together as a community to stop violence, this is a step in the right direction and they did a fabulous job so lets all join in and support this documentary. Post it on your blog, watch it, talk about, that is hope we stop the silence.
If you have never posted on this blog and would like to share your story in my upcoming book please post your story here as well. By leaving your story or comments anywhere on this blog you are giving me permission to use it in any media form. I only use first names unless you ask me to share your full name.
Love & Peace,
